We have been working closely with our partner, Sky Is The Limit Children’s Centre, since 2014 to give vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Fort Portal, Uganda the best opportunities possible.
With the Sky Is The Limit Primary School and Nursery, we support 397 children aged 3-14 years old. There are three students with special educational needs: one is deaf/dumb while the other two have learning difficulties. The school offers places to children in and around Fort Portal, whose parents are too poor to pay the school fees expected at other educational institutions. Rose Mugenyi, Founder of Sky Is The Limit believed that all children deserve a good quality education in order to create happy, healthy and meaningful lives – a belief that continues to be upheld by the staff of Sky Is The Limit today. Children are supported through their education through sponsorships paid by our generous donors. In fact, some of our donors continue to support the children from Sky Is The Limit up until they have completed University.
At Sky Is The Limit School, the children’s wellbeing always comes first as they are encouraged to reach for the stars. We run a school meals programme, where children are given a nutritious hot lunch and porridge every day as a means of overcoming the severe levels of malnutrition within the communities. This sets the children up to have enough energy to learn and play, while also contributing positively to their physical development as children.
There are still children at Sky Is The Limit who need your help as they fulfil their educational journey.

At Sky Is The Limit, there is also the means of providing opportunities for local young people:
We are working to secure funding to develop the 8-acre farm to increase food sovereignty and battle malnutrition. We will train 10 farm workers in organic farming practises to restore farmland that has been depleted by traditional farming methods, increase yields of crop harvests and build a farmhouse where the workers can live and store food safely to reduce pests. Once the farmworkers have been trained, we will provide opportunities to local young people to learn organic farming methods to help restore the ecosystem and increase job opportunities.
The ‘Chosen Few’ Tailor shop offers training in tailoring and sells handmade clothes, school uniforms, bags etc.
Our newly established Fruits of Sky project consists of 3 business arms, a Boda Boda motorcycle taxi service and repair shop, a stationery shop with ICT centre, and providing Business Loans, to help bring sustainable income to Sky Is The Limit and contribute to the local economy while offering employment opportunities to local young people.

Sky Is The Limit School is in Fort Portal, one of the poorest areas in Uganda where according to the
most recent statistics from Ugandan Ministry of Health:
- 35% of Uganda’s population live in poverty and nearly half of the child population have never been to school.
- Many children do not complete their primary education. UNESCO estimates that almost 70% of children in Uganda who enrol in primary school will drop out before finishing.
- 41% of children in the region have stunted growth and 45% are anaemic due to lack of nutrition, causing cognitive development impairments and increased morbidity from infectious diseases.
- 2.5 million children are orphans, of which, 43% are orphaned due to HIV/AIDS.
- High unemployment rates and food insecurity face most Ugandans, especially in rural areas such as Fort Portal.
- The children who attend Sky Is The Limit School – some as young as 5 – walk an average of 12km every day to go to school, often on an empty stomach as their families can barely afford to feed them one meal a day. Many pupils are severely undernourished and for those with HIV/AIDS, the lack of a well-balanced, calorie-rich diet further weakens their immune system.
