Skills training: enabling women to be self-sufficient

14 May 2014 Leave a Comment

IPI has just completed the first year of its Ecologia-sponsored tailoring training for 15 vulnerable Kenyan women who would not usually be able to access such a course – and it’s been a real success!

These women, selected because of extreme poverty, their families’ dependence on them, and the fact that HIV/Aids has affected them in some way (some are infected, some widows, some orphans), have described increased confidence in their future now that they are fully equipped to set up in the trade of tailoring. They can feed, clothe and educate their children.
Now IPI will support these women either to find employment or to set up their own businesses, by helping them market themselves and make business plans.

IPI couldn’t run these skills training courses without your generous donations, and they really make a profound difference to the well-being of whole families. So please do donate and support this project! Listen to how it’s changed Fridah’s life:

Personally I would not have been able to pay for the course. I have started to take my future life positively since I have acquired skills which can help me earn income to educate my children. I see a bright future …Actually I would have no hope in future but now I have hope.
