Datuna is paralysed from the waist down, a likely victim of child abuse who survived a fall from a 7th storey window when he was two. In Georgia child protection services hardly exist. He was used for begging on the streets until he was 5 years old. Then, yellow skinned, filthy and crying, with open wounds, the police found him, begging alone at midnight.

Datuna in Scotland pageTemi Community took him in and still care for him. It's a wonderful place that saves many lives, but living conditions are very poor. Datuna was often confined to his bed, and his spine continued to deteriorate as his scoliosis advanced. The severity of his spinal injuries was beyond the country’s resources.

Madge Bray from the charity Braveheart Georgia met Datuna in 2008 when he was seven and was struck that, despite everything, he always looks on the bright side of life. He never complains. He laughs a lot. He is extremely intelligent. He is a survivor.

Together we launched an appeal to save Datuna's life, and fantastic progress has been made.

Now thanks to your help, his back is tall and straight, he's gained 4 inches in height and although he will always be in a wheel chair he is likely to have a normal life expectancy.

Datuna inspires kindness in the people he meets.

A spinal surgeon performed the big operation in August this year. Hospital staff donated their time to make a Spiderman brace that held his back in place until his operation. His physiotherapist Fiona Lindsay has done a wonderful job helping his mobility.

He is an honoured guest at Thornlie Primary School in Lanarkshire. His friends there raised £1,000 to pay for a wheelchair ramp to make his life easier at Temi.

They love him! And he loves them.

Fiona Lindsay, Physio pageYour kindness and Temi's care means he now has a future.

But he is still very vulnerable.
He still needs…

* To stay in Scotland for 9 months until his back is healed
* A new wheel chair

* A fully accessible building with shower facilities for him to live in at home in Georgia
* An education

Have a look at the new video of Datuna at Temi - you will see why he desperately needs groundfloor accommodation in the grounds of Temi, with disabled facilities! We are raising the money to build this for him.
Cost in the region of £30,000.

We can give him a future. Time is of the essence.
Give generously. You have helped to save his life! Now let's make it worth living....
